teachers have a hard job. a super hard job. i felt like i should highlight some of the teachers that i remember (both bad and good)
Ms. Penaflor:
she was my first grade teacher and by far the COOLEST teacher ever. i don't think i learned much, but it was a hell of a good time. she played piano, knew sign language, played beatles songs for us...we even played jump rope IN CLASS. i mean, she was just a kick ass teacher.
Mr. Morenberg:
he was my science teacher in sixth grade. he was one of the weirdest people i've ever come across, but science teachers tend to be a little bit off most of the time. he had some of the weirdest habits and qualities. first of all, he was like a fucking, body builder. the guy was huge!!! (clearly he was compensating for something else) he had a picture of his wife on his desk and she looked like a freakin barbie doll. he drank lukewarm iced tea that was nearly black from all the sugar and mix..he kept snakes in the classroom too. but the coolest/weirdest thing that he did was sometimes, during tests he would go "hows everyone doing?" we'd say like, whatever...then he'd go "okay well, for the next one minute, take out your notebook and see what answers you can get" and we'd take out our books really quick and try to answer the questions we didn't know. i mean, thats pretty cool.
Mr. Shade (sigh)
o.m.g. mr. shade is the best looking man. like, THE BEST looking man. he is fine. like FINE. i can't stress enough how good looking this man is. i mean, adorable black curly hair, gorgeous white teeth, nice bod. i mean gorgeous. and just when u think he couldn't possible get any better, he was funny as hell! i would just go to his class and stare at him, listen to him talk, just admire him. and the best part of leaving middle school is getting to go back there and he actually HUGGED me. i almost died. the last time i went to OMS (my old middle school) to pick up my younger brother, i saw this beautiful god, and he said "hey lauren, how are you?" HE REMEMBERED MY NAMEEE!!! *sighhhh*
Mr. Incorvaia
he was my honors english teacher in 11th grade. he is the absolute definition of an asshole. that is one of the only ways i can describe him. i mean, despite that fact, he was actually a good teacher. one of the only teachers that made me feel like i was improving. i can't say that for most of my teachers in high school. but i do feel like he helped me prepare for college.
Andre Esters
ahh, Andre. he is my absolutely FABULOUS english professor here at Howard. i LOVE him. he is the best. his class discussions are hilarious, he is a verrry sharp dresser, and his class is one that i always look forward to. he revamped my love for reading and writing and i actually enjoyed the required reading for the class. of course all good things come to an end, so i only have three more weeks of being in his wonderful class and he might not even return next year (not that he would be my professor). either way, he changed my view of english and college in general. i love you andre esters!!
this blog was inspired my mommie who is going back to school to become a teacher!! pretty awesome..
